No I think Bayliss will be safe for a while yet.

Could be Langer v. Gillespie for the Oz job maybe?

Yes. That is what I meant about Langer being next in line. He has already been in charge on overseas tours while Lehman was having a break

Watched most of the England v. Pakistan T20 game on Wednesday night. Don’t know if anybody else watched but it was played at Old Trafford, Manchester. I would guesstimate the capacity crowd comprised of at least 75% Pakistan supporters. Amazing support for an away game.

It must have cost them a mint just to travel for the 1 game and the airlines would have had to put extra flights on to cope with the big increase in passengers. There again maybe not. Perhaps just a little insight as to what the future holds for the UK.

Although Hick has impressive FC stats he is generally considered to be a failure at Test level as he never came anywhere close to producing the same form. You need mental toughness to be successful at Test level and Hick’s Test stats indicate he couldn’t hack it.

Sounds like Matthews has made Dean Jones’s epic innings into a pissing contest. Pity really.

Reading articles like that always puts me off ever going to India. Although it was 30 years ago a mate of mine (who is forced to go there by his employer) reckons it’s still an absolute shithole, but over time some parts have improved.

Default MHN Walker

The Bagman put a comment in the Shout Box that old Max had passed on. Well I thought Max was worth a post on. I remember Max bowling in an Ashes Series in England, him being first change with Lillee and Tommo opening the bowling. He had a very odd bowling action that nobody could ever be coached or even advised to adopt. But I have never seen any bowler seam/swing the ball as much as Max could. Every single ball he bowled did something.

I was a young lad at the time and was completely mesmerised by every delivery. Inswinging leg cutters, outswinging off cutters, Max was just about unplayable. Maybe his bowling technique was more suited to England conditions but he could certainly make the ball talk. Don’t think Max quite got the recognition he deserved playing second fiddle to Lillee and Tommo but he was definitely a class act.
