Default Kuala Lumpur

I recall Mirky going there a little while back, anyone else been?

My team Manchester City have a friendly there on July 30th and if I can make it out there, I will go for this game, just a pre-season friendly against a Malaysian XI so it's not gonna be blood and thunder!

Any recommendations on where to go, whast do to, where to stay etc.?
Is there any sort of p4p scene, or am I best looking for a bird to take with me from Thailand?

Any info appreciated lads and lasses, thanks....

Also.... can we have another sub-section on the open board where this can be moved to?
A general S.E. Asia one? I couldn't find one, probably just didn't notice being the blind twat I am at times!

My mate went there from LOS in the 90's to see England play, took a bird from Bangkok to keep him company.

I stay in KL all the time.

To be honest, you will be better taking a TG.
There is a P4P scene in KL but it's expensive. Downtown you get a lot of freelancers walking about but word is it's 500 ringit a go which is 5000 baht.

It's mainly done in Karaoki places like Mercury and that's out of our price range unless it's on company dough. You can easily spend 500 quid plus in there.

Hotels..

Well if you really want a great experience the Grand Dorsett Sabeng is my favourite. Lovely.

Good hotel near loads of shops would be Empire Hotel again in Sabeng.

Depends where the football stadium is. Holiday Inn's are all good in KL.
Food is wonderful there.

I might join you for the game ... if I can get tickets through my Astro satellite guy.

The game is being played at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, just outside of KL - absolute luxury compared to The Etihad. The stadium is served by the light railway system. It's not a good idea to stay in Subang (presumably thats what Mirky is calling Sabeng, although the main airport (KLIA) is in Sepang) unless you're flying in/out on Firefly, IMHO.

Loads of hotels around KLCC/Golden Triangle and the Petronas Towers in the centre of KL and it makes it easy to get around on public transport which is dirt cheap. I would use a site such as combinedhotels.com to search for hotels and filter it down to 4/5 star places in KLCC. Anything less than 4* can be a bit of hit and miss in Malaysia, so I'd want to have a look at the accommodation before committing. I get staff rates at the Interconti, but the Corus Hotel provides a good balance of price, quality and location. KL taxis, like 2/3* hotels ... I avoid them if at all possible.

If you have a TG, drag her along - the main clubs along Jalan P Ramlee (Beach Club, Ibiza etc) are likely to be packed with guys in town for the game and girls' prices are sure to be jacked up accordingly. P4P wouldn't be on my list of priorities - save your cash and have a Nuru threesome when you get back to BKK ... There are various room service providers if you do fancy a Chinky though - you're looking at 4k Baht for 3 hours with a Thai, Filipina or Indonesian and around 500 Baht more for Chinese (mainland, not local). Reduce the prices by 50% for a 60 minute fix.

A 64m m2 suite in the Nomad Secusa can be had for 5,500 Baht for 3 nights. A room at the Corus will run at around 7,500 Baht for the same period. Both are decent places without breaking the bank.

Seems very resonable Tom, thanks for the info.

Plans have probably changed due to finances, so not sure if I will be able to make it now, though I am possibly taking a break from my S.E.Asia adventures for a while so I might get a loan and go for it still.
