Strauss all the way. Top run scorer and good captaincy off and on the field. It makes me laugh listening to some of the ex captains having a go at him from the comfort of the commentary box. Botham, Hussain, Atherton etc never went near captaining a winning Ashes team.

I voted Broad.

Probably half way through the Ashes I would have considered dropping him, but he came through and he may just have enough to become a true all rounder.

One thing that does piss me off with Broad's development is that when he first burst on to the First Class scene he bowled at 90mph++.

Of course once he had the benefit of "top class international coaching" the speed has been reduced in favour of "line/length, swing/seam". Same old shit that is on offer throughout the County Championship.

Why is it that in English cricket bland mediocrity always reigns supreme over raw explosive talent? If it was left to me I would have wanted Broad bowling at 100mph+ by this stage of his career.

When Broad first played first class cricket for Leicestershire, he had only been bowling seriously for a couple of seasons, having been mainly a batter for Oakham school. I cannot remember him bowling at 90+ mph, but do remember him being more a swing bowler. Leicestershire had to hold him back, because he grew to quickly and his body muscle's were struggling to keep up with his overall growth. If he had been over bowled then it would have fucked him up big time.

I voted for big Fred, without him we would never been in a position to win the series!

Must have been some abbo let loose behind the controls, I've corrected it.
