Roamer, I use Foxit http://www.foxitsoftware.com/Secure_PDF_Reader/ instead of Adobe. In the past the Adobe was just to heavy in use for me.

Try this http://www.glarysoft.com/ to clean up the laptop.

Do you defragment?
