If you like stuff like this I'd recommend having a look on e-bay or amazon for Sven Hassel books. Legion of the Damned and Wheels of Terror are a good read. A Danish volunteer to the German army in WW2. Not snipers but in the tanks. Great wartime action re-living the Eastern Front from a German perspective.

If you compared the chronology it was all wrong. I used to read the Leo Kessler books which were very similar and claimed to be written by a German guy that fought in WWII. Leo Kessler was the pen name of a Lecturer in History from Hull.........!! Both series were highly entertaining whether they were true or false. I`m going for a root around in my attic because I am sure I still have them somewhere
