DVDs that only play on DVD player?
I have many DVDs that play on my Acer laptop but some only play on my home Sony DVD player even some from the same series , I use VLC media player with all VISTA codecs downloaded but the offending DVDs show no Data on the computer but play fine on the Sony DVD player.
What is wrong here and can I solve it. if not how can i send the films from the SONY to the PC hard Drive?

monsterman,
It is probably your PC's DVD player that is set to a specific region ...... you can change the setting but only 4 or 5 times. The link explains it better than I can ..... http://www.mvps.org/marksxp/WindowsX...ns/regions.php |

Thanks Tom , I tried that solution but it is not the problem as the DVDs come fro a set of 6 , the first 4 work in the PC & Sony DVD player but the disc 5 & 6 only work in the Sony DVD player its a mystery ?
i want to get the discs onto the Harddrive before i go to work again as it is a pain carrying discs offshore.

Monster if its pirates and it sounds like it with 4 out of 6 playing on your laptop and 6 out of 6 playing on your Sony standalone DVD its tough.I'd take ALL your kit into Tukcom and get a boffin there to either fix you up with the correct cables you need or get them to copy your disks so that your laptop can read them - it could be something as daft as a different brand of disk or I suppose it may even be something to do with this plus or minus thingo!
Good luck and I'm sure these guys will have you sorted sharpish and cheap. |
