Look at these two bastards

Look at the smug look on Jone's face

Shoot Bayliss as well for wearing the 3 Lions

Part of a Cricinfo article

Australia's Test top rank hanging by a thread

Quote:

Australia are likely to be dethroned from the top of Test cricket's world rankings in the first series since they rose to No. 1, after crushing defeats in their first two Tests in Sri Lanka. Moreover, with India's imminent 13-Test home season, it may be some time before Steven Smith's men can reach the summit again.

It was only two weeks ago that Smith was handed the Test Championship mace by ICC chief executive David Richardson - in a ceremony that was kept private at Sri Lanka Cricket's request. But Australia's pair of defeats to Sri Lanka, in which they were exposed as having little to no idea of how to bat in Asian conditions, has left the door open for England or India to ascend to No. 1, perhaps leaving Smith's team as low as third.

Australia's chances of remaining at No. 1 now depend on favours by Pakistan and West Indies, who are currently trailing in their respective Test series against England and India. England would go to the top by winning the final Test against Pakistan, while wins in the final two Tests over West Indies would take India there. In the medium term, India's long upcoming home season, which includes Test series against England and Australia, gives them a good chance of building a lead at the top of the table.

Didn't help by getting the local identity "The Chucker" to be your advisory bowling coach either plus another Sri Lankan bloke to assist with coaching in local conditions.

Big help they were

Can't see why we can't be number 1 for the rest of the year after the final test against Pakistan then beating India down there

You have to beat Bangladesh first in their own patch. Not as easy as you may think. You could always do what Australia did and cancel for "security reasons". The way we play on the sub-continent it might have been a good call.

How the fuck does India get 13 Tests in a home season? The most England and Australia get is 6 Tests in a home season.

Money talks I suppose

Years ago they sent Bangladesh to Australia in the off season and played Tests in North Queensland and the Northern Territory. After embarrassingly easy results to Australia, that was never tried again.

Racism is still alive in South African cricket.

CSA sets selection targets for national teams

Quotas for SA Cricket

45 years ago they were kicked out of international cricket. Betcha fuck all happens now though

Looks like the Poms might get a few more players coming their way. They rarely come to Australia though. Not good enough.

Well unless they only select a “coloured” team for low ranking fixtures and then pick players based on solely ability for the real competitive stuff SA cricket will suffer. Which is a pity as they produce good cricketers and should have a strong presence at International level.

I remember a few years back and SA were going on a tour to Oz. Bowler Charles Langeveldt (classed as coloured) hadn’t made the Training Camp held in SA before selecting the squad to tour. The squad was then selected but later reviewed owing to injuries to some players. The final squad was selected and all the players were white, so the SA Sport Minister intervened and ordered at least one coloured player to be added.

Langeveldt was told he would be selected so he promptly retired from International cricket as he believed SA sportsman should only be selected on ability not colour or race. A young inexperienced “coloured” batsman went instead and had the piss absolutely ripped out of him by Warne and Co in every game he played.

Watched an interview with former SA Captain Graham Smith and he was asked if SA could ever field an International team of only white cricketers. He just burst out laughing then added “No” at the end. Says it all really.

Question for the Convicts. Gillespie is leaving Yorkshire (can't blame him for that) and returning home to the Penal Colony. Is he being lined up to be the next Oz Head Coach?
