Hopefully Tex will give you some info when he gets the chance. I visited Chang Mai once,long time ago so haven`t got much specific for you but enjoyed the visit. Some lovely scenery nearby if thats your thing. Did a day trip to Doi Inthanon National Park,home to what I think is the highest mountain in Thailand,rather misty when I was there,some nice waterfalls also. I stayed at a hotel opposite the Night Market which also was OK for a look around.
