Default Travel Help Needed !

Hiya Guys !
When we arrive in Pats in November we have a side trip to make to Karnchanaburi to see our little friend Pla , she used to be at the Street Kids home but has been re-united with her Grandma and is attending school and by all accounts is doing very well !
The help bit is ....... whats best way to get there ?
Bus , Train or hire a Car and driver ?
Stay overnight ? or is a day enough time to make a visit worthwile ?
Thanks in advance , XX
Liz

We did this trip but with an overnighter on the river hotel and a visit to Hellfire Pass , very sobering place to see !
Makes our gripes about food, prices , weather etc look a little bit sad !
One thing to bear in mind if you do the overnight at the river hotels
take a big spray can of Mozzie killer with you !

Alzheimers is a bitch, innit?

Ah ! now i get it , you refer to a post about a visit to kanchanbouri we made last visit
Little bit different this time as the last trip was on a Tour Bus and this one will be self planned , thats where the "help" bit came in
Using the local transport is gonna be a lot different from the Tour so any suggestions on best options is always welcome !

The easy way to do the trip is to hire a car (& driver if you don't fancy challenging all the Thai drivers)
Or you could take a morning bus to Bangkok, make your laborious way through the city and catch the direct train from THONBURI Station to Kanchanaburi, Alternatively, make your laborious way across Bangkok to the Southern Bus Terminus and get a bus to Kanchanaburi. Bus is considerably faster than the train.

Even going by car, I'd recommend staying at least one night so you have plenty of time to do everything you want to. As said above, a visit to Hellfire Pass & the museum there is well worth doing and makes a good day out from Kanchanaburi.

Enjoy
