Another Aussie win
Today Cadel Evans managed to beat his rival Alberto Contador(Spain)
in the 4th stage of the Tour de France. Technically a very good finish by Evans. Yesterday an American won the 3rd stage, the first time an American has won a stage on Independence Day as Tyler sprinted home Just guess what country has 3 riders in the overall Top 10 at current standing? Yep good old GB. That will soon change as the race gets tougher in the mountain stages. |

Best not to tell bazza and bagman but an Aussie(Cadel Evans) won the
Tour de France this year, first time ever an Aussie has won. Fully deserved, he beat the 2 Luxembourg brothers that tried to break him, they finished 2nd and 3rd. He(Evans) rode a superb race and although I wanted the former 3 times winner Contador to win, Evans was better. A Brit( Mark Cavendish) managed to win the Green Jersey(King of the Sprints)first time ever a Brit has won that title and a record 3 times win on the final stage in Paris. Some tears on the podium at the finish. |

Contador shouldn't have been allowed to compete. What happens next month when they decide he is a drug cheat? What would it have meant to the race had he won and been stripped of it? Another Sastre?
Brilliant win by Evans. Three cleanskins stand on the podium and are full of praise for each other. Thats how sport was meant to be. Expect Andy Schleck to win next year, but he needs to learn how to time trial.

Everybody should be a bit happy today. Poms won the cricket beating those uppity Indians. Hamilton won the Grand Prix, Stoner won the bikes and the Aussies beat the Yanks in the 4 x 100 metre relay at the World Swimming Championships.
