Woodman I know what you mean about the Sven Hassel books. The first few books are the best and the chronology of the books would have him in two places in one time. They're still a great read and personally I'd rate the first few as amongst the best wartime books I've read. Imho nearly up there with Michael Herr's - Dispatches.
A book I've meant to read was The Devils Guard. Out of print now and available on ebay.
