ireland picked up a couple of points in the 20/20 world cup and could do again against the likes of holland, bangladesh maybe but think the strongest teams in both groups will make it through easily and i'll go for an sri lanka england final

Frankie 02-19-2011 07:04 PM

I will go for India. There used to the wickets and playing conditions. Plus there used to living in their shit hole of a country and wont be bothered by the shits, spewing up, shit food, searing heat and fuck all to do.

Remember a few years ago Alec Stewart took tinned corned beef, baked beans and Tetley tea bags out to India with him. That was all he existed on for the duration of the tour but avoided the shits etc.

Frankie 02-27-2011 06:57 PM

Watched England tie with India today. 338 runs each. An exciting game with some great batting from Tendulkar and Strauss. Normally England would have won as India were all out when batting and England only had 8 wickets down. But for some strange reason that rule does'nt apply until the knockout stages. Stupid idea. Cant see the sense in sharing the points in limited overs competitions.

old crust 02-27-2011 07:43 PM

They have a good batting line up and are on home ground, but I would'nt be putting any money on India winning the Cup. Too many players to hide in the field.

Frankie 02-28-2011 08:25 PM

[quote=old crust;200417]Too many players to hide in the field.
/QUOTE]

Their fielding was poor against England and was probably the main reason as to how England got to 338. Based on that display the Indians are going to have to score 325+ every game against the top sides. I was amazed at how many two's could be run as fielders on the edge of the circle were incapable of moving quick enough.

A team are'nt under pressure to score boundaries against India there's a shed load of runs that can be scored by just placing the ball into gaps in the outfield.

The team has always been referred to as England even though it's officially the England and Wales Clicket Board. It's not as big a game in Wales (only really being played local to me rather than through the whole of Wales) so doubt we'd be able to field a full team if it was just us.

You're alright mate, don't think anyone Welsh has made the team for a while. OC would know for sure but I can't think of anyone making a major impact since Simon Jones in the 2005 Ashes series.

old crust 03-02-2011 04:25 PM

The team has nothing to do with England its defo' Welsh today.

Cook is half Welsh by his Mum. The head of the Board, Huw Morris and the man who deserves a lot of credit (apart from today) is Welsh.

I've always found cricket to be popular in Wales. Two years ago I spent a few days at the Colwyn Bay Festival and plan to go there again this year.

Beaten by the Paddy's. Bit embarrasing. But as Kevin O'Brien scored the fastest century in Cricket World Cup history something was always liable to happen.

That's a win, tie and defeat for England. Wonder what the odds were on that happening?

Just wait till we play South Africa......................

Eng-er-land :georgecross:just sneaked a win against south africa by 6 runs :sweatdrop:thought we'd no chance after our innings but Banga and Windies next so hope to make it through to next stage

Frankie 03-06-2011 06:27 PM

I didnt expect to beat South Africa so it was great to win such a tight game. I noticed in such a low scoring game that South Africa conceded 20 extras and England only 6. In fact Extras were Englands third highest run scorer. Yarpies only have themselves to blame giving that many runs away is piss-poor.

Frankie 03-11-2011 08:14 PM

England lose to Bangladesh. WTF?? Obviously England failed to set a good target. However when its your turn to do the business with the ball and 23 wides are bowled what else other than defeat can be expected.

Funnily enough extras at 33 were Bangladesh's third top run scorer. That's even worse than the Yarpies inflicted on themselves against England. Bangladesh only conceded the grand total of 10 extras when bowling.

Very amateur performance by England. Not even piss poor. School boys would be banned from playing cricket for bowling that many wides. Could be a crunch game against the Windies who are, like England, another shit or bust side who are capable of doing anything on the day.

Anyway it does'nt count as its only pyjama cricket. Unless we win of course............................

bigphill67 03-17-2011 05:07 PM

scraped a win against windies today they should of seen the match out and sent us home but if either the windies or bangladesh lose we go through look out abbo's your 34 win streak is looking like its coming to an end when we meet lol:ohno:

England are the only entertaining country in this World Cup. Every games a cliffhanger. Problem is it does'nt matter if the opposition are shite or top class.

Top class team = win

Shite team = lose

Lets hope we avoid the 'Stralians in the quarter final.

Frankie 03-19-2011 08:51 PM

See the Aussies lost again. They lose the Ashes and now totally screw up against the Pakis (all games played in between are to be ignored).

Couldnt understand what Ponting was doing. Brett Lee takes 4 wickets and is brought back for his final spell with the Pakis only requiring a handful of runs to win. The only way for the Aussies to win was to bowl the Pakis out and Lee was easily the best bowler.

Thought the Pakis might collaspe when Misbah copped a first baller as the next three batters U. Akmal, Afridi and Razzaq have more suicidal tendencies than a kamikaze pilot. Afridi did not disappoint and threw his wicket away but the other pair managed to show some restraint although it took Akmal quite a while to realise the game could easily be won by taking singles. A good game to watch.

kuranda_bagman 03-20-2011 12:17 AM

Firstly well done to Pakistan – They tied us up completely with some really good bowling and with the exception of Haddin, our batsman failed to come to grips with the situation and the failure of White yet again really exposed our fragile batting order.

Now for my rant – WTF was Ponting doing during the last 6 overs when our best bowler by a country mile was left languishing on the boundary with 3 overs left to bowl. It was so fucking obvious that we needed wickets as the innings was not going to run to 50 overs yet Ponting persisted with Tait who was fucking useless. FFS Pointing you dumb cunt – You had a new batsman at the wicket and you didn't let your best bowler have a crack at him !!!!

Once again well done to Pakistan – They deserved their win.

bazzap 03-20-2011 05:32 AM

Fuck the Pakis!!

Don't mind losing at it had to happen one day.

Would rather had lost to those upitty Indian bastards than to these cheating Paki cunts!!

:bigfinger:bigfinger:bigfinger

Anyway, I'm gonna back England (12.50 on Betfair) now to win it and have a saver on the Aussies in case we fluke it. Too late now to remove Ponting so he better improve and time to sack Cameron White. Been a passenger for too long now. Watch Sean Tait. He's about to come good

Got a bit left over from backing a $24 winner in Sydney yesterday. Will get me a nice wide angle lens today off Ebay and put what's left on the Poms and Aussies.

I ain't racist but I just don't like them cunts in the Indian & Paki cricket teams. Rather see any other team win the WC than those mongrels

Pakis hammered the WIndies. Waste of time the WIndies turning up as they were totally inept.

Really big one tomorrow though. India v. Australia. Could be a classic as long as the Aussies dont implode and Ponting stops making stupid decisions. I am tipping India to win this one.

Frankie 03-24-2011 07:10 PM

India win. Good game got really tense during the Indian run chase. Especially after Kohli was caught off a full toss. Then Gambhir threw his wicket away. Not satisfied at almost being run out off two consecutive balls he achieved it on the third consecutive ball. But Yuvraj and Raina steadied the ship and got India home.

IMO the Aussies put a good effort in but were beaten fair and square.

KeeNeow 03-24-2011 09:35 PM

I would have dropped Tait and kept the leggie Smith in as he could have caused more problems. But Ponting won the toss, opted to bat first and reckoned around 250 runs was a good score. So it went according to his game plan. Only, India managed to get them. On paper it looks like India won easily but watching the game it was pretty tight and Yuvraj was the player who won it for India. The batting/bowling conditions were also more suited to the home team.

Ponting answered his critics with a good ton which may buy him some more time and keep the media off his back.

Moving on its South Africa v. New Zealand today. SA to win that one. Made even easier for SA as NZ are currently 5 for 1 B. McCullum being the man out.

Frankie 03-25-2011 05:56 PM

Just when it looks like the Kiwis have had their chups the Yarpies go and choke on them.:burgerman: Good win for the Kiwis. Hope they named du Plessis Man of the Match for running out de Villiers as that helped turn the game.

Its the big one tomorrow England v. Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka have to be favourites as England are highly inconsistent. Think it will be either be a tight game or England will be hammered. Whoever wins almost has a bye into the final as they will play the Kiwis in the semi.:woosiechair:

Looking like an India v. Sri Lanka final. :clueless:

Frankie 03-26-2011 06:10 PM

Well England flattered to deceive in reaching the quarter finals and were hammered by Sri Lanka. England batted first and struggled to hit the ball off the square. If Morgan hadnt got 4 lives when batting the Sri Lankan's would have had even less runs to chase. The only consolation is that a 10 wicket defeat would have still been the outcome.

At least Dilshan and Tharanga had to break sweat when knocking the runs off but that was down to the weather conditions rather than anything England bowled at them.:baseballbat:

A crushing defeat for England by a far superior team, so there can be no complaints at the result.:roller:
