Going to have a little wager today on a couple of GB/Irish horses now racing in Australia


Caulfield Race 7 Midas Touch

Caulfield Race 8 At First Sight


Both were brought out to Oz ages ago by prominent owner Lloyd Williams to get them acclimatised and both have had 3 runs now here. Getting up to a suitable distance of 1800 & 2000 metres now. Both are entered for the Caulfield & Melbourne Cups. Both are lightly raced 5yos by Galileo that raced last year at the highest level in UK and Europe. Both will be around the 10/1 mark today.


While Australia has some of the best sprinters in the world, our stayers have never quite reached that level. Several trainers in Oz have been buying up 2nd grade English staying horses for a few years now and cleaning up here especially in Sydney & Melbourne. Rarely a week goes past without an UK horse winning here. On Thurs, Green Moon won the Group 3 Newcastle Cup and another horse, December Draw has taken all before it here and is one of the favourites for both cups. December Draw is odds on to win again today in the same race as At First Sight.

One ran 2nd and the other one ran 3rd. Not bad runs and will stick with them next start.


Dropped $100 so nothing major.
