BigBadSi 09-20-2007 08:53 PM

Sonny Bill Williams the king of the shoulder charge

mack 09-20-2007 09:00 PM

There's different rules on how you can tackle in rugby union vs rugby league Badsi? Some good hits on that 2nd video. Rugby is a very tough sport there's no denying that.

BigBadSi 09-20-2007 09:17 PM

Yes mack in rugby union you cant shoulder charge see video number 3,in league u can rugby league is a north england game union is mainly in the south of england

mack 09-20-2007 09:24 PM

Then it's a lot rougher in league. I saw a guy in one of your videos above do what was known as a "clothesline" in U.S. football on another...run by and stick out your arm and hit the ball carrier across his neck...is that legal? They banned that from tackle football/NFL here years ago.

BigBadSi 09-21-2007 04:18 AM

No head high tackles in both are illegal Mack.

I wouldnt say League is rougher than Union,I actually think Union is more brutal, most of the contact is on the ground so you risk getting trodden all over, the odd eye gouge.
League is more fast paced and contact is made like you saw in vid 3 the objective of the defense is to dislodge the ball as the opp only get 6 tackles to make it to the try line.Thats why League the hits are harder the impact is greater, theyre both as rough as each other.

League is more Ferocious than rough esp if you watch the NRL(aussie RL) those guys know how to flatten a 18stone bloke, union is slower, more tactical game its all field position in some respects similar to Americal Throwball

mack 09-21-2007 01:29 PM

How often do they play rugby games Badsi? Once a week? Are there lots of injuries? It would seem like there would be guys dropping like flies. Rugby would be fun to watch from looking at those videos...it doesn't get any play on T.V. here in the U.S. to my knowledge. The big three of NFL football, NBA basketball and major league baseball dominate the sports scene here on T.V. and in the media.

BigBadSi 09-21-2007 03:28 PM

I personally think League is more exciting to watch, just the sheer pace of the game.
Union has a lot more too it though, more variations on play etc.

Games are on quite frequently Mack,The Union season has just begun, the World cup is in process, the league season is drawing to a close.

I doubt u can pick it up in the US,but you never know

The maori Haka,

mack 09-21-2007 04:15 PM

Intense pre-game ritual there! That's about the time I'd a headed to the coach saying I just pulled a groin muscle and couldn't go. _________:rugby::rugby::rugby:

BigBadSi 09-21-2007 04:18 PM

Ive always wandered if it intimidates the opponents,it must for sure fire up the All Blacks, faveourites to win the World cup too

mack 09-21-2007 04:22 PM

At that level of competition Badsi it just probably fires up/pisses off the opponents.

BigBadSi 09-21-2007 04:27 PM

Tongans giving all blacks a bit back

BigBadSi 09-21-2007 04:31 PM

BigBadSi 09-21-2007 05:10 PM

jonny 09-21-2007 06:13 PM
