Scotland 2 Macedonia 0

The Scots "only" need a draw against Holland on Wednesday to qualify for the play off place.

Who thinks they'll do it.They're 6/1 to qualify..........worth a tenner surely??:shs:

Wiggy 09-06-2009 09:54 AM

I think that is a knocking bet Tony seeing as Holland have all ready qaulified i think that is a great price !! ill be putting a 20 spots on the Swetty Socks !!

ROLAND 09-06-2009 10:33 AM

They need a win against the Dutch to be 100% sure of going into the play offs as not all 2nd place teams qualify. A point may be enough depending on other results.
Then again what do I know about playoff as England will qualify as WINNERS dancing

foz 09-06-2009 12:25 PM

hope the dutch stuff them.

dont want to be watching them jimmy wigs with their skirts on next summer.

penetrator 09-06-2009 12:41 PM

You never know they might get something against the Dutch, if they forget to take their clogs off before kick off !

Actually it might be better if the Sweaty's get a draw or win, it'll make it even funnier when they get stuffed at home in the play off by someone like Latvia, nothing's funnier than seeing a fully grown man in a ginger wig and skirt crying dancing

I don't think that even a win means they are 100% sure to qualify. Their odds on Betfair are around 2/1 to beat Holland and around 3/1 to qualify.

soi 2 09-07-2009 01:12 AM

A win would mean that Scotland are guaranteed a play off place for the World Cup. So we would be up against a good European team again. A draw would require other results to go our way to make it the qualifying play off game.

6/1 to beat Holland or scrape through with a draw then beat another decent team to make it to the World Cup. I wouldn't bet on that. Two days ago I was talking to people putting money on Macedonia to beat us at home. No chance Scotland will be in South Africa. I hope I'm wrong though. Especially without the lucky talisman McFadden.

I work in a gym and its still full of guys training when Scotland are playing. Old Firm fans don't seem too bothered what happens. Rangers and Celtic supercede the national team for the majority of people here in the west coast. (Edit) I'm one of them :unionjack:

elway69 09-07-2009 04:27 AM

Here's the teams that have qualified already,I reckon England are relatively safe too.

HOSTS
South Africa

AFRICA QUALIFYING
Ghana

ASIA QUALIFYING
Japan
Australia
South Korea
North Korea

EUROPE QUALIFYING
Netherlands

SOUTH AMERICA QUALIFYING
Brazil

The Irish teams are also looking good so far but I think Scotland,as usual have left themselves too much to do.
Love to see them pull it off though.

Wiggy 09-07-2009 10:57 AM

So what is the best price for the win against Holland then ?

I can only remember back a month or so:

No real shame in losing a close match by the odd goal to a good side but...

Sorry Gaz but Scotland are not Guaranteed a play off place

UEFA - the eight best second-placed teams from the European preliminary competition will contest play-off matches to determine the final four teams to join the group winners in South Africa.

There will be 9 2nd placed teams

With a small and less than stellar domestic league and a population of 5 million Scotland is never, ever going to achieve much on the pitch but at least we don't resort to trying to turn of pack Balkan Muppet's into a footballing Colossus to justify our many failings!

:scotsflag:

Balkan Muppets ? Croatia have pretty consistently been a top 10 side in the world since their independence, they came 3rd in the 1998 world cup for fucks sake and went out on penalties in the quarter finals of Euro 2008.

Croatia (9) were ranked 2 places above England (11) in the FIFA rankings when they won that game 3-2, Scotland (24) on the other hand were ranked 26 places above Norway (50) when they got stuffed 4-0 recently.

The Croats may be many thing but muppets at football is certainly not 1 of them.

Hi Mark, I stand corrected. You're right. Scotland aren't guaranteed a place in the play-offs if they beat Holland. But it would be highly likely that this result would secure a play-off place. Scotland are currently 6th place in the list of 9 teams vying for the play-offs.

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/footbal...6908-21653728/

If Scotland beat Holland we would have 13 points a draw 11.

To beat us Hungary would need 7 points from 3 games, Portugal home and away and Denmark.

Quote from the article linked -

GROUP 3

This is Scotland's big hope and Burley wants Slovakia to clinch the group. Northern Ireland are second but their six points from wins over San Marino will be wiped, taking them back to eight.

Nigel Worthington's team need full points from their last two games against Slovakia and Czech Republic to reach 14.

Poland are virtually out of it as, having played San Marino twice, they sit on just five.

Slovenia would also need six points from games against the Poles and Slovakia to hit 14.

The Czechs have to beat both Poland and Northern Ireland to reach 12.

If Northern Ireland or Slovenia draw their last two games they would finish on 10 so Burley is hoping for stalemates galore in the remaining fixtures.

It would be nice to qualify but fuck going to South Africa to watch the games. There are few places on the planet that hold less appeal for me.

soi 2 09-08-2009 02:49 AM

I've no plans to go to South Africa if Scotland qualify. The tournament organisers must be hoping for teams like Scotland with big travelling supports to make it and spend their money there. Teams like North Korea qualifying are a dead loss. No supporters and won't generate much revenue for World Cup sponsors.

Would be nice to watch the games in a Pattaya beer bar.

I can see there being a lot of crimes committed during the world cup, muggings, burglary, knifing's,

elway69 09-10-2009 04:25 AM

Scotland 0 Holland 1
As expected,no surprises.

I don't have a problem with England, last world cup I ended up supporting them because they were the only team who weren't diving.
I hope they do well in South Africa.

FOOK citeh though.:bigfinger

Croatia have been good to us this week, allowing us to stuff them last night and the night before knocking Andy "anyone but England" Murray out of the US Open, Happy Days

I always used to support all home nations when I was younger, then I came to realise the antipathy so many Jocks hold for England especially in sport, anyone remember that cunt Gavin Hastings and the rest of the Scottish rugby union team cheering on Australia from the stands in the 1991 world cup final even though the England players were going to be their teammates in the soon to come British Lions tour. Now the only home nation I support is Northern Ireland except when they play England of course.

I'm astonished at the animosity towards Scotland from the English guys.:kenny:

What goes around comes around.

On a personal level I find most cocks in frocks to be genuinely decent blokes and enjoy their company.

as for "all ABEs now"? Jesus, your paranioa runs deep - do you actually thing NI, Wales and Scotland supporters give a shit how England do? Persoanlly I couldn't care less. My team is out, so let the best team win.

Sport is supposed to about supporting the side you wan't to win, not getting some fucked up and warped satisfaction from other people's failure.

cast and reel, cast and reel :clapping:

I KNEW you would bite on that :pissedmesen:
