Daytime in Pattaya vs Bangkok
I'm going thailand again in a weeks time but havent decided whether to go bk or pattaya. I'd get bored on beaches sunning myself I like to walk about and see things - preferably not at tourist prices!
Would i get bored in pattaya? I mean sure of a night Pattaya sounds great but do you think I would resent being there bored out of my wits during the daytime? I'm thinking between 5 and 10 days in pattaya....too much too few? what's your thoughts? Is pattaya just a few market stools, loads of gogo bars and then hangover recovery in the beach / hotel pool until the night again? |
The 'nightlife' in Pattaya carries on in the day too. There are a few gogos open in the daytime (albeit with a much lower level of quality than you'll find on Walking st at night) or you've got soi 6 which is a street full of short-time bars and you've also got a few soapy massage places.
If you're looking for sightseeing then it's slim pickings to be honest and in terms of variety of things to do away from the bar scene it's nothing to compare with Bangkok but there's still enough that you wouldn't get bored there on 5 or 10 day stay. |
When I was in BKK i would walk 10 - 20 miles per day. Just walk in a random direction and take in the sights stop at a McD have some chicken or street vendor food, go to a market then walk back hit the bars, enjoy the night cocktails come back to the hotel sleep and repeat. Loved it!
I just wan't see myself doing the gogo thing night and day really how big would say you the 'core' part of pattaya is in terms of square miles? |
Pattaya isn't that big really. You've got to bare in mind that although Thailand calls many places 'cities', by western standards they've only got one and that's BKK. If you want to walk for miles and miles, surrounded by hustle and bustle, then BKK is your only real option. You certainly couldn't do 20 miles a day in Pattaya for 10 days without covering the same ground quite a few times.
|
sure from top of naklua to bottom of jomtien is 15k about 9 mile i did on my bike once and measured it..
|
just stay out at insomnia and the jp bar till the sun comes up like i just did on my recent trip then you will have no need to worry about daytime activity in pattaya coz it will nearly be dark again by the time you wake up and shag your disco bird again, then just repeat that cycle for your entire stay !!!
|
pattaya is a 24 hour bar and party venue always somewhere open for some fun within walking distanc of the next place, from the daytime beer bars and soi 6 to the night time bars and go-go's then the disco's and jp bar ect. its eay to get caught up in a circle of bars and girls and go to a different venue/street each day, but as gonzo says not to much outside of the beer and girls to attract anyone to pattaya if they're looking for culture then maybe a split trip a few days in bkk then pattaya or even up to chang mai for some trekking if walking's your thing.
|
BKK is boring unless you like shopping. Pattaya is a lot more fun if you are only there for sex.

I've upped our sales by over a million Euro's this year. Must be doing something right. Bangkok one of the best cities in the world????? Are you joking? Why is it? What is there to do here that's so good? It's a shithole. Are you going to tell me about river cruises and 5* meals past the golden palace? Vertigo hi so resturants and wine bars that have waitresses flying on wires serving wine? Cleopatras and hi class massage parlours that have models to fuck. 5* hotels. Ex pats who know it all. You seem to forget I do that shit and get paid for it daily. My expenses last month were over 100,000 baht. I can think of Chatuchak market and Cold Stone ice cream shop and that's about it in Bangkok. The rest of it is a nightmare. The traffic for starters would ruin any normal person. The P4P scene is crap here. Pattaya is a 100 times better and that's why everyone on here goes there and doesnt stay in BKK. Not a single person on this board came to LOS for any other reason that fucking whores. You can put a twist on it if you like but that's why your here not because of Thai culture. If Thai girls suddenly decided they hated falang men not a single person reading this would ever go to LOS. I would rather be with my mates in CB on my birthday to be honest. I'm booked into some yuppie 5* shit place this weekend with my boss. If I could swop places I'd much prefer to be staying at 500 baht Thai Tong Villa and taking a bird LT from Soi 6. Maybe I am Jade Goody |

Anyway, luckily for you, the 5* places usually have a guy in the bogs who'll help you if you can't manage a piss on your own. Just don't expect him to have change of a 1k Baht note when you try to tip him. Quote:

Tom, as Rolly says your wasting your breath with Milky. He has no intention of trying to intergrate or understand Thai society. As he readily admits he was and still is a Pattaya sex tourist. He just happens to be Bangkok based these days but he could just as well still be in Maidstone. The only difference now is he gets down to Pattaya a bit more often.

What Thai culture did you take on board? I seem to remember you spent most of your time in............Soi 6 and the CB. :bigfinger Why don't you join up with Winnie? He has bi-polar personality as well. Quote:
What great culture delights or entertainment am I not seeing? Bangkok is a shit hole. I've traveled. Now talk to me about a great city. I can give you some examples. Zürich. Stockholm. Munich. Berlin. Clean, fantastic culture and history. Nice food. Great scenery. Nice people. Let's face it. Bangkok is filthy to start with. The skytrain is a good way of getting round but so what? Where do you want to go? SUK? Silom shoppng? There is nothing of interest here. Thai's hate falangs and see them as something to rip off. Period. That's all of them as well. 100%. From the moment you step off the plane somebody will be watching you thinking what can I get. That includes any Thai GF/family and friends you think you have. I can work with this system because I want to fuck the girls here. Because of their inbred whore nature this works well for me. I actually feel sorry for anyone who doesn't share the same mindset. Sooner or later they will find out I was right all along. Quote:
Sit on Koh Samui beach alone? Walk round Khon Kean looking at market stalls? Take a trip to River Kwai and eat by yourself? Get real. You are here for Thai pussy the same as everybody else. |

Somebody should show this to Porno.CNN) -- A Southern California woman was in jail Wednesday after allegedly drugging her husband, cutting off his penis, throwing it into the garbage disposal and turning it on, Orange County police said.
Catherine Kieu Becker put a drug or poison in her husband's dinner Monday evening to make him sleepy, according to the initial police investigation. "The victim went to lie down and he woke up tied to the bed with his wife tugging his clothes off," police said. "The suspect grabbed the victim's penis and cut it off." Becker told police he "deserved it" when they arrived at the scene after she called 911, the police report said. The couple is going through a divorce. Becker, 48, was arrested for aggravated mayhem, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, administering a drug with intent to commit a felony, poisoning, and spousal abuse. She was booked into the Orange County Jail. The 51-year-old victim, who hasn't been identified because he is an alleged victim of spousal abuse, underwent emergency surgery at the UCI Medical Center, police said. :crosstorture: |
i am with mirky on this one and I have travelled and lived in many big cities that make BKK look like a backwater .......I also have integrated into Thai society after 18 years but all that has gone by the board as i realise its futile , as much as i like Thais and Thailand reality is i see it for what it is and its very flawed .thats why i now only want to spend 4 months a year in the country and the rest either working/travelling or in europe which for all its faults has real culture , no where is perfect .

They don't have garbage disposal units under the sinks in Pattaya thank God. Preferred methods in Pattaya are tying the member to a balloon or feeding it to Ducks.

It's the working here that makes it a world apart from what everyone else does. I know if I had to go home I would be gutted. I think the best feeling I ever had for LOS was when I worked 3 months Europe and came on holiday for 1 month. I was earning well with my own company in those days. Unlikey to see that again if I went back. |

I think the best bet here would be for the people who like Bangkok to tell the new poster exactly what it is they like to do. He cn decide if that's for him or he would prefer Pattaya.
No secret. I'm not a fan of Bangkok. Let's leave it at that. |
Hi
I cannot speak for Bangkok, don`t know it. Also I`m more of a night time person but I don`t see Pattaya being lacking in non bar/drinking activities in the daytime. ferocious already suggested a route for a long walk, try far end of naklua and take a walk towards Jomtien, that will take some time. non tourist place, just 1 example, behind the naklua fish market there is a large open air area where many Thais go to relax, there are a few basic exercise machines there free to use if you want. Exercise classes at 6.00 PM most days, free or 10 baht up to you. Just watch and listen to the music or participate. Some people walk around the area, some jog and sometimes some young Thais who are fixed gear bike enthusiasts come and ride their bikes. I go there once a week or so to chill out and relax. Heading towards Jomtien you could always walk or jog up the hill that leads to Buddha hill, then take a walk up the hill leading to the statues etc. Then you`ve got at least 2 bowling alleys in Pattaya, 1 very near BigC north on 2nd Road, does a cheap basic breakfast if you`re up early enough. Go to a gym, fair few in Pattaya Gym/sauna/Muay Thai/tennis courts all at Fairfax, not the cheapest but has a good reputation for facilities. Go play pool or snooker. Plenty more things to do and IMO there`s simply not enough hours in the day nor days in the week. |

Personally speaking, I don't much care for Pattaya these days for a whole host of reasons but I wouldn't dream describing it as boring to the OP, if for no other reason than it's obviously not to a significant number of people. |
