This weekends boxing
Amir Khan tommorow night against some Danish pastry and not a hope in hell he would ever fight Romanov who has just busted up Jon Thaxton badly.
More chance of getting my 10bt in NLD than seeing Khan face off with the Russian. Then next week it's Clinton Woods v Antoine Tarver and on the 19th Joe Calzaghe v Bernard Hopkins. A good month for fight fans. |
really looking forward to seeing calzaghe beat hopkins R , also fancy woods to give tarver a fight.... missed the thaxton fight R i'm down at fakes place and he's too tight to get sky sports
|
Calzaghe will make Hopkins look amateur I am sure.
Surprised Thaxton lost but I remember seeing Hatton destroy him a few years back despite being cut badly, I think was at the velodrome |
he's good that romanov.....remember him comin to england a few years ago when he was an unknown and he busted up one of our top prospects....bobby vansie i think, sure he's whooped greame earls ass too.....and then busted thaxton last nite in 5,never seen it tho.......good fight anyone???? khan will be kept away from him i think...if warrens got any sense....which he has..

graham earl beat romanov on points in 2006,but he did smash vanzie in 8 in 2003,also beat steve murray in 2002 and murray was a tough cookie lookin forward to khan tonight, also derry mathews v choi tsveenpurev on the undercard for the W.B.U featherweight title, used to train with choi when i first turned pro. signed for the same manager and had a couple of fights for him,out of oldham(shaw) did alot of tough rounds with him and he can bang a bit for a half pint, but can be a bit lazy....but he has the equalizer punch to finish matters if he falls behind on points. me and F went to watch him a while back and while we thought he was gettin outworked and due for a loss he pulled out his honey punch with a minute to go in the last....felt sorry for the other guy to fall at the last hurdle, but thats boxing......could go either way that one:boxing: |
5 stoppages in 19 wins against a bunch of nobodies for this Dane, hardly a banger is he.
|
Choi is pasting Matthews
|
didnt half paste him......told ya about that big punch.....didnt think he'd finish him that soon, but it was his big night and last chance saloon for him.....well done choi :boxing:
|
I'd love to see Amir dumped on his backside but I don't think it will be tonight.
|
shit endin to the fight, think he was just tryin to run away from khan....doin the pikeys windmill attack....what happens when you run backwards? you fall ower...thats my take on it anyway..not so much clean punches that felled him but just pushed backwards
|
How that Derry Mathews won the british boxing writers young boxer of the year award is beyond me, I posted on here a while back I thought he wasn't all that. Maybe the writers were dazzled by Steven Gerrard and co turning up at his fights.
Shame that Choi isn't a stone heavier, would like to see him give khan a test as he seems open to getting caught with the same kind of right hand Mathews did. |
clinton woods vs antonio tarver on setanta at 2am....gonna try stay awake for it......clinton seems to be gettin better with age and has pulled out some good results in his last few bouts but tarvers a bit tasty on his night......what do ya recon R? watchin it??
|
The Yanks don't give Clinton a chance but Tarver hasn't been the same since he done the Rocky film so maybe a upset ?
Also Danny Williams on the bill so make sure you've got some Red Bull in you. |
glen johnston is on the bill too....beat and beaten by woods....gettin on a bit now........ill watch the wood fight and sleep through the others........especially the williams fight...my gut couldnt hold the required amount of redbull needed to keep me awake during one of his bore fests. he's been calling out audrey harrison for a rematch....for the good of the sport i hope it doesnt happen
|
Audrey is on next week on the Calzaghe bill
|
Fraudly Harrison, one of the best monikers ever written about a fighter :boxing:

I reckon he is one of the VERY few you would have a chance against bomber :boxing:

Bit dissapointed with Clinton, made it look easy for Tarver
|
margarito & cintron had a ding dong for 6 rounds last night with margarito winning 6rd ko , also highly impressive miguel cotto destroyed alfonso gomez in 5 rds , both winners facing off in july & a possible date with mayweather on the cards
cotto doing a job on gomez |
big big fight next weekend as calzaghe fights bernard hopkins in las vegas...
joe showing great hand speed the other day at his public workout , could be his main weapon next saturday |
I think Calzaghe wins on points but in a messy fight

Calzaghe in a one-sided points win, or by knockout late on for me.
|
a suspicious draw after calzaghe dominates
|
i predict a double KO in the first dancing :boxing: dancing

If Hopkins comes into the ring in his executioner attire to try and get the mental edge:
Then Joe should come in dressed like this: |

That was an excellent about 26 minutes worth of videos recapping the two fighter's careers and their preparation for the fight on the 19th. Even though Hopkins is going through cutting-edge training with that specialist, he's still 43 so I'm going with Calzaghe in a decision. It makes for a very interesting matchup...I just hope it proves to be that in the ring. :boxing:

anywhere we can watch on the net?,its on bastyard setanta you have to subscribe for a year fuck that
|
sure you can't do it on a month to month si that's what i'm on ,£9.99 a month no contract
|
Decent boxing on last night with Ryan Rhodes coming back to win the British title and Pele Reid as usual being knocked out as well as Naseem at ringside looking like he weighs 20st.
|
If Audrey Harrison wins tonight maybe his next opponent could be Naseem Hamhead.

Joe Calzaghe and Bernard Hopkins went nose-to-nose for the final time before their light-heavyweight clash in Las Vegas on Sunday morning at Friday's weigh-in.
The pair both tipped the scales at 173lb - two pounds under the limit - before tempers flared with Hopkins threatening the Welshman with the line 'I'm going to bust your heart'. More than 2,000 British fans were present at Planet Hollywood with a further 6,000 expected to attend the fight at the nearby Thomas & Mack Center. Calzaghe was, for the first time in the build-up, ruffled by Hopkins' taunts, which pleased promoter Frank Warren. "That is exactly what I wanted to see," he said. "Joe has never been better prepared and I'm confident he will do the job in style." Calzaghe insists his speed, power and youth - he is seven years younger than Hopkins at 36 - will enable him to adapt to combat any threat thrown at him by the veteran Philadelphian. "It's up to me not to get drawn into his kind of fight because I am by far the better fighter," he said. "If I allow myself to do that, then I've made a big mistake. "Bernard is very well schooled. He'll have done his homework and he knows how I like fighters to come to me. He could make it a dirty fight. But as long as I fight to the standards I did against Jeff Lacy and Kessler, it's over. "Fighting out here has always been my destiny, and now is the perfect time to do it. I could have come over here five years ago but I might not have handled it as well as I am now." |
