I was supposed to be going fishing today.

Damion rang up at last minute and blew out. He had the hangover from hell.
Decided to have a bird of prey day.

Got both of my Kites out for a bit of a fly around. Bit rusty but getting there. I've been away to much really.

I'm off to Japan tomorrow so thought it might be an idea to stock up with dead chics. Phoned my mate at Chatuchak and drove down to pick up my order.

Porno fancied a look at the dogs so we had a a walk round.

Didn't see much to be honest then a dealer who knows me ran out from behind his stall and grabbed my arm. I knew he must have something a bit special that could not be put on show.

Opened a great big box and what was inside?....................

A Crested Serpent Eagle chic. :surprise:

It's not easy getting a Golden coloured one either. I knew I was looking at a rare bird. I've only ever seen one or two black ones for sale.

I didn't really fancy weighing in a load of money and I knew it was going to be expensive. I asked how much?

8500 baht.

Porno bid him down to 7000 baht. Seemed like a good idea. I went to ATM and got the money.

I am now the proud owner of a bastard great Eagle. My first one.

Took it straight to the bird school and had it sprayed and checked out. It's in good nick anyway.

Black Kite.

I'm planning more time spent with these type of birds from now on.

If you cut away the bamboo forest behind you, you'll probably find a couple of giant pandas have been squatting in your back garden. :respect:

"I'm planning more time spent with these type of birds from now on."

Sounds OK as long as the BangKeaow doesn`t beat you to it.

Could just be expensive dog food.

Magnificent looking birds but with your track record possibly not long for this world.
For once, not intended as a criticism just an observation on the shelf life of a typical Mirkwood pet.

Make sure to keep the photo of the full grown one, because with your trrack record the chic will never survive long enough to get to that stage.:snigger:

I've reared both the Kites from Chics.
We haven't had anything actually just die for ages. Don't want to temp fate here.

The Eagle is going to be difficult to look after but we are commited.
I can't believe I own one to be honest. I remember looking at them in cages at London Zoo when I was a kid. You wait until it grows to full size. They are massive. Really nasty bastards as well.

ruhorny 06-06-2011 11:05 PM

Should get along magnificantly with Porno then.:tornado:

I don't doubt that you will do your best, but look around you. Birds that escape from the aviary, rabbits that seem to be there only for feeding other animals, fish that starve to death or aren't looked after in other ways, and a dog that should be put down in the interests of public safety.

Good luck, anyway. As I said, magnificent birds

The rabbits are nothing to do with me. That's Porno's bag. I hate the smelly bastards and I'm happy when the birds or dogs kill them. :haha:

My white kite killed about 4 or 5. Porno only put them in the Eagles cage last week. Right from day one it was trying to kill them.

I've failed massive with fish. If Porno's manky kid or the dogs don't eat them the resident stork or whatever the cunt is just flies down and scoffs the lot.

The Bangkeow dog is a nightmare. I can't argue with that one. I stoved the fukka in 1 minute before leaving for Japan. It's totally fearless and immune to pain. I've tried the sit Rover and giving it a treat lark. Pointless. All it wants to do is escape from the house, run outside and kill things. I notice the classified adverts on Thai Visa usually contain one 'New home wanted for Bangkeow'
If you had kids around you they would be horrendous. You can't let yourself get scared of it or your toast. I'd never condone hitting an animal or woman unless it's Thai.

I know I might be barking up the wrong tree (excuse the pun) but I'm planning on getting a large male dog (Akita) to keep it in check. Probably backfire.

The birds get looked after though big time. The problem was before we had the aviary. Now that is up and running I doubt we will lose anymore. The Eagle is going to take some serious TLC though. It's no messing about time when you have it out either. Those things can really hurt you. I would not have entertained getting one before I felt ready.

I still fancy an owl though. I'm was gutted when Porno lost the Barn Owl. I'll get another one when I have chance.
