Burrows feels he merits a place in the team from the start. He would probably get that at every other Super League side.
Thing with Leeds is that they are a much better team when Sinfield pulls the strings playing at stand off rather than loose forward. That means that McGuire who is a stand off and regarded as a better all round attacking player than Burrows gets the scrum half position that Burrows wants.
Burrows is a bit of a one trick pony. His whole attacking game revolves around him being so small and nimble that he can duck under the big forwards and use his pace once he gets into an open field. The opposition however are now wise to that and double team him from the start when their forwards are fresh. He has also lost a bit (only a bit) of his pace
Putting him on the bench and bringing him on when the forwards are tired is what coach McDermot feels is the best way to play him. I don`t rate him as a coach but you cannot deny it worked a treat against St Helens. Burrows try was poetry in motion.
