Porno's new baby owl Jerry.

roamer 04-04-2010 12:30 PM

Baby owl looks nice.

I went to naklua Sunday market earlier.
What was the first stall I came across?

Pet stall!
Tamer selection of animals than your BKK market.

Some cute fluffy bunny rabbits,
some mice and hamsters(could have been small rats I`ve no idea really)

Some small birds and then a few small dogs barking away for attention.

Managed to resist the temptation to buy anything there thankfully.

dancing

Mirkwood 04-06-2010 12:57 PM

I've got another one.

I couldn't resist it. He's lovely. Going to be a big un as well

I nearly bought a Tortoise as well. Are they hard to look after?

I never knew I was an animal lover until I came here. I thought my hobbies were just shagging and drinking.

Just shows, there is a nice person in all of us trying to get out :jump4joy:

Mirkys animal kingdom update Bangkok.

Honest it ain't me.

We went to Chatuchak market for a change. Both of us. Made a day of it. Had fantastic time. Really enjoyed spending time with the dealers. Learnt shit loads about keeping birds of prey and treating them when they are sick etc. Bought a first aid kit for owls.

Saw so many crazy animals for sale today. Don't know where to start. Just about everything for sale today.

I'll post some photo's but latest head count from the animal kingdom.

1x bastard great big Scops Owl.

1x baby Scops owl.

2. Asian Barred owls.

1x.....Yes it had to come. You know it... Baby Eagle.

1x Vietnamese Squirrel......(Don't ask) I've seen happier rodents. Living in same apartment as 5 birds of prey can't be that relaxing for him.

A shoal of Siam fighting fish. Males and females.

The owls are the nuts. No trouble to keep at all.

Eagles pukka. Just like a baby. Porno it's attatched to it 24/7.

Lucky we aren't in a house or we would own a Siberian Huskey dog as we speak. She fookin wanted me to buy it anyway.

Pictures to follow.......

To any children who read this shite please remember Mirkwood is not on the same planet as the rest of us and is a prime example of what care in the community is capable of.
30 years ago this clown would have been safely locked up in a looney bin wearing a strait jacket :haha:

KeeNeow 04-16-2010 01:15 PM

A fucking baby eagle don't you realize it will grow into an big fucking eagle and tear lumps out of you. Just do the condo leap now and save us all from the months of misery to come.

Sort of yes. I like listening to them though. I'm mental. You know that.

My Aussie mate is after an owl now. He's obsessed with them. We went looking for one today but no luck.

You lot ought to get one. It's the way forward.

Errr. Well acually there have been a few mis-haps in the fighting fish department. First night together resulted in 4 deaths. :hang:

Normal service resumed now. I didn't know they killed the females as well.

KeeNeow 04-18-2010 07:08 AM

If the males kill the females how the fuck do they breed?

ROLAND 04-18-2010 09:47 AM

Can't someone put Mirkwood in the fish tank ? Would do the world a big favour

Not true - they will usually kill females as well if they aren't ready for breeding.

KeeNeow - They breed in the wild because of the space and hiding places etc. In the home you usually place two small tanks together and get them both in the mood where they see each other. When the female is full of eggs, you put her with the male and then remove her again afterwards. The male will take car of the eggs in his little bubble nest.

KeeNeow 04-18-2010 11:36 PM

Too much information my brain hurts now, Still drying off from sonkran got saoked at 6am going back to hotel on Soi buakhao

Mirkwood 04-26-2010 12:31 PM

Come on lads.

I know we have a giggle about this Mirkys zoo lark.

No fucking about now. I've had a nightmare.

When we bought Porno's squirrel a fortnight ago, we bought something else into the home. A bastard virus. It was either that or one of the new owls.

Fuck knows what it was. Might even be that H5N1 avian flu.

Really I was a silly cunt. I thought you could just pick up what you wanted from Chatuchak market and bring it home.

Of course now I know better. You have to quarantine animals. You can't just bung them together. For starters most of the animals are wild down there. They have natural viruses etc. People won't even take birds to vets in UK in case they pick something up.

Anyway, the result?

Whole lot wiped out in a week. 4 owls, squirrel and worst of all my lovely eagle. I was gutted when he died as he was only one who didn't look sick.

It was weird. They just started by closing an eye. Next thing they stopped eating and drinking. I went everywhere. No bastard vets here treat birds. I got some medicine eventually but the vet told me if you can see a birds sick it's already dead as they have built in mechanism that makes them act well so other birds don't attack them.

Owls are particularly bad to have as pets here because stupid Thai's are scared of them thinking they are ghosts. Chances are NO vet will treat an owl. Reality hit me.
Yeah you can buy owls easy but if one gets sick it will die simple.

Tomorrow we are having a massive clean up with Dettol etc.

No thinking about jumping condo just gutted.

Anyone know about bird illness?

What do you think it was?

I went to Chatuchak today. Saw some cracking eagles etc but I won't get another one until we are 110% sure of where to take it if it's sick.

I've got a feeling everything at that market is walking dead anyway.

Poor things all bundled together. I reckon 75% of what you buy there dies within a week.

Live and learn from this one.

In the old days this halfwit would be in a looney bin and chained to a bed, personally I blame Gordon Brown for this.

I think Buddha is telling you something milkpot, birds are supposed to be free to fly the skies, not stuck in an apartment with a couple of people a few cards short of a full deck.

You are right of course.

Thing is though Pen, the animals at that market are doomed anyway.

The Thai's just buy things to fight. For some weird reason the Chinese buy owls to eat?????

The wild bird mainly die from the shock within a week and couldn't really be released in Bangkok.

At least we take care of them when they are here.

bigphill67 04-29-2010 07:05 PM

just read about your owls and eagle thats abit of a shitter mate and don't think you'll ever find out what caused it but like you say probably one of the birds you've brought home has infected the others or maybe something in there food. but a good disenfectant and month or so do again then avairy should be well clear of traces of virus left in there good luck mate you should try reptiles next lizards ect lol
