I hope Gazza gets the help he needs.

Many great memories of him playing for Rangers. His hat trick against Aberdeen on the last day of the season to win the league. Still is the most impressive individual performance I've ever seen any player do in a match. Especially given the importance of it.

When Rino Gattuso signed for Rangers as an unknown teenager from Perugia. Gazza took him out and bought him some smart clothes and looked after him. Gattuso has achieved more in terms of trophies than Gazza managed - World Cup winner and European Cup. But still wears the number 8 when he plays.

Hopefully someone in the world of football can throw him a life line. I'd love to see him as pundit on one of the football programmes.

Gattuso, along with Arteta, 2 really good young prospects that have gone on to fulfill their promise, always used to watch out for the kids Rangers signed.
Kanchelskis can fuck off though :bigfinger

Probably a shit load.

Another question, given Fergie's renowned for being a bit of a disciplinarian, would he have managed to keep Gazza on the straight and narrow? :detective:

I guess we'll never know.

I think if Gazza would have kept proffesional,He wouyldf have joined the legends such as platini, maradonna, pele, cryff, beckebauer etc as a world legend
IMO he was that good.
I went to Umbro tournement at elland rd England played Sweden it was 3-3 ,gazza ran over to the crowd after which the rest fucked of into the changing rooms and signed autographs for a good hour,I got a photo with him (which unfortunatly i dont possess no more) and a signed cap,he was a legend(or could av been)

The Youtube video of some highlights of Gazza that ferocious put up on this thread is really impressive. I'd say most U.S. sports fans have at best only vaguely heard of him, so it was interesting learning about this guy here. On the video it looks like he's got the ball attached to his toe with invisible string the way he slices through defenders when he's got the ball...until he kicks it...then the ball hits the back of the net._ :goal: _ Without knowing much about the sport at all it's still easy to see from those clips that he was a special player.

The best way to sum it up for those in USA and OZ IMHO.

Gazza was to Football (soccer-Usa wogball-Oz)

As

What Shane Warne was to cricket

And

What Michael Jordan was to basketball.
