They sacrifice a good chance of winning a Test match and squaring the series, to save Ponting missing a game because of a slow over rate. I cannot believe what I am watching, have they gone soft?

Very poor effort from Ponting. Should have taken one for the team. Copping an absolute pounding from the press here.

Only way out will be if he knocks up a big 100 and wins the game:mounty:

Haha.

I love the Aussie press when they lay into the team.

No mercy. :tomcat:

While they are at it, they ought to get stuck into the selectors as well. Batting Watson at six in a test match beggars belief. 6,7 and 8 was a real powerhouse for the Aussies recently, but now its very ordinary. They need to forgive Symonds and give the West Aussie Kiwi a go with the gloves and bat at 7. Who will be the spinner for the Ashes? The new offie did alright in this test but he will have to tighten his line up in England. Tim May he ain't.

Bababing.
The selectors have fucked up royally. OK we were unlikely to ever win the series, but the lambs they sent to the slaughter didn't even have the structure of a cricket team.:insanity:

The main problem is that Warne is irreplaceable. Apart from being the best bowler of all time, he was also one of the best number eights. He also has a cricket brain Ponting can only dream about having.

Agreed O.C. Warnes a fucking legend
Played for my county team for a coupla years, the bloke oozes class on the field, and a proper bloke off it too, and the way he gets around birds-wise suggests he has spent time with the infamous Bagman in his past! :wine:

And he has gone. Forever. And we are unbeaten in the last TWO World Cups without him as well.

Also gone are McGrath, Gilchrist, Langer etc. The world moves on. Maybe we will lose a bit of our aura for a while but some of us have great faith in the Aussie cricket system. It is tried & true and we don't fuck with it too much either.

Gee it's easy to bash the Aussies when they lose ONE Test series isn't it. Especially in India when we have won one series since 1969. Since we wrested the 'top dog" crown from the Windies back in 1995 we have hardly lost a Test series. Performances in India & Pakistan are our weak link and a Ashes loss in England in 2005 by the barest of margins are about the only blips on the radar.

Our Test series wins plus throw in the last 3 World Cups and just about every other one day series in the last dozen years and you have a record teams from all the other countries can only dream about.

No one would doubt the Aussie system is the best, especially compared to the stop start systems tried and failed in England. That is why it was so surprising what happened after tea on Sunday.
