I've been in Pattaya for 8-9 months now, but I'm just starting to branch out past the tourist and red-light areas.

I'm wondering if any expat powerlifters or bodybuilders know of serious gyms with good equipment.

Until now, I've mainly worked out at Tony's Gym and before that Universal Gym. Both are good but I don't see all that many serious local lifters in either gym, just tourist types.

Thanks in advance.

Dunno about hardcore weighlifters but there was plenty of hardcore shirt lifters in the gyms I checked out around town. I ended up using the 1 on the Sukhumvit just past Pattaya Klang heading north as it seemed the least bent, think it's Universal.

Tonys Gym and Universe must be the gyms in Pattaya if you're into weight training. I'm sure I read that there is a Golds Gym in Jomtien.

Loads of hardcore trainers out there - have a look at www.t-nation.com and search an article by a guy called Phil. Called - Pattaya Roving Reporter. He was doing strongman event type training in the car park of Universe gym and met a load of guys at Universe.

I've seen a lot of bodybuilders in Tony's. But I've never seen anyone really going hard powerlifting. Heavy deadlifts etc.
