Thinking of a brief visit next trip and I know a few of you have been so was looking for a bit of advice.

Is Ao Nang that best area to stay? I'll take long tail boat to the nicer beaches in the day but want to be able to find places worth going at night.

Will be with the missus so not looking for tarts, just a choice of restaurants and a few decent bars that won't shut too early.

I just came back from Ao Nang.

Krabi town is shit. Don't bother staying of visiting there. Period.

Ao Nang seems good to me.
Nice beach. We stayed at Holiday Inn which is if you can imagine to the right hand side of the main drag...

It's about 10 minute walk to the 1 main road.

Loads of restaurants and a small bar area.
You can get tours sorted to the islands from all the hotels easy.

Bear in mind, James Bond island involves an hours drive to another jetty before you start.

Great place. 3 nights max for me. Make sure it doesn't rain or you will be jumping condo.:chainsaw2:

Stayed ao nang found it to be fairly plentiful for food for a small place 10-15 mins on a long tail to railay , check out the travel shops for good deals on island tours, I still say the 1200 baht I spent doing a day island hop was the best money id ever spent, gorgeous part of the world have fun!

In addition we did a 7am jaunt to railay beach empty perfect tranquility
