Can you only buy them in phone shops or also in 7/11
and Family Mart?
Should know but I`ve forgotten.

I've bought them in 7-11s before.
I buy them in 7-11 and the clerks are always very willing to help load the new phone number and time.

As mentioned no problem getting a SIM in 7-11. I used to be with 1-2-call for years but prefer Happy now myself

I've bought 1-2 SIMs from a 7-11 before but always had 'pompems' with international texts and calls, both sending and receiving. I now buy from the dedicated phone shops and there appear to be 2 types of SIM...one available from 7-11, etc which is OK in-country and another which works better for international as well. Generally speaking, the phone shops have staff more accustomed to foreigners and their phones / requirements than 7-11 staff.
In fact last time I used TukCom to unlock a phone, the lady tried to set me up on a date with her daughter...which was an unexpected service !

Only problem I have using a Thai Sim card is that when i leave it on back in the UK I get the occasional message ( Maybe a promo) and 90% is blacked out. Not important but annoying
